Ross returns to winners circle at Enid Speedway

Sara Foster photo, John Rittenoure - ENID, Okla. (August 6, 2022) - Hayden Ross has been winless in four previous visits to Enid Speedway this season. That changed on Saturday.

Ross led the final 12 laps of the Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series main event and picked up his 5th victory of the season.

Outside front row starter and Two-time Enid Speedway winner Dustin Allen outgunned pole sitter Ross for the early lead and set a strong pace with Ross in tow for the first half of the 25-lapper until a yellow flag waved forcing a restart. Allen was involved in the yellow.

Ross restarted in the lead and raced unchallenged in his Jay Hodge Chevrolet, Ross Construction late model for the win. Four-time defending champion Kip Hughes climbed from 5th to finish second, Eddie Tidwell raced to third four his best finish of the season, Brett Hansen was fourth and Kerney Weaver came from 11th to finish fifth.

Hansen won the Matt’s ATV first heat and Dustin Allen outran Ross to win the Design One Racewear second heat.

The CWT Sooner Late Model Series returns to 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas next Saturday, August 13.

About Sooner Late Model Series

The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
