Brill, Buck, Bynum wrap up 2026 Sooner season at Beaver County Raceway

by John Rittenoure (Rickety Roach photo) - BEAVER, Okla. (October 17, 2026) - A trio of drivers closed out the 2026 Sooner Late Model Series presented by Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation season as first time winners Saturday at Beaver County Raceway.
Eric Brill wrapped up his first career points championship, Ashlee Buck won Rookie of the Year honors, and Troy Bynum capped the night with his first career Sooner feature victory.
After taking the points lead away from Dakota Dellinger at mid season Brill stayed on top to the finish despite not recording a feature win all season.
“I was consistent and finished all the races,” Brill said of his season. “Everyone told me you have to be there at the end. You just take what the track gives you.”
College student Ashlee Buck overcame late season adversity to earned Rookie of the Year honors.
“All the hard work is paying off,” said Buck who saw her season efforts in jeopardy after suffering a blownan engine two weeks ago in Muskogee. “The latest could of weeks made is work for it. We are thankful for all the good luck we had all season.”
Not to be overlooked is Troy Bynum’s first career victory.
It has been a couple of years since Bynum last wheeled a late model, but Saturday he climbed behind the wheel of the number 222 normally driven by Damian Patocka and picked up a win in the season finale.
Denver Howard jumped into the early lead in a bid for a first time win. Bynum gave chase and was finally able to pulled alongside on lap 15. Bynum wrestled away the lead on lap 16 and pulled away for the win.
Nate Jantz drove inside of Howard on lap 17 to take over second leaving Howard in third at the finish. Randy Wilson and Kevin Newell finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Missouri, and Arkansas.
