John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (June 5, 2023) - The Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series presented by Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation travels to the state of Kansas for a pair of shows this weekend.
It all starts on Friday with a first ever visit to Humboldt Speedway. The Sooner Late Models will headline a show that includes Ray’s Metals Depot USRA B-Mods, Extrusions, Inc. Midwest Mods, Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks and USRA Tuners.
Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands at 6, hot laps are scheduled for 7:30 with racing at 8.
81 Speedway will host the first of two shows scheduled for 2023 on Saturday. Last year 2022 Rookie of the Year Brett Hansen picked up a early season victory and Kansas competitor Dan Smith survived a final turn challenge from Joseph Gorby for his first Sooner Series victory in August.
Alternative Pest Management USRA Modifieds, Primal Jerky Mini Stocks, heyglassman.com Stock Cars and the Kansas Antique Racers will also be on the program.
Pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands at 5, hot laps hit the track at 6 followed by racing at 7.
Hansen comes into the weekend with a slim 5 point lead over rookie Eli Ross after a broke rocker arm took him out of action last week at Outlaw Motor Speedway and ended his winning streak at three. 4-time champion Kip Hughes won the main event giving him two victories on the season.

Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation
Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation goal is to help grow both high school, trade school and college programs to start and or develop a motorsports program, club, or organizations at their school as well as individual motorsports programs. HRMF will provide financial grants, equipment, expertise, scholarships, and educational opportunities for these organizations and individuals. This program will allow students to overcome the hurdle of entering motorsports due to the high costs and specialized experience needed to get started. This program will allow these students the opportunity to be part of a team with one overall goal of success on the track, including budgeting, marketing, mechanical skills, logistics, and team building efforts. All while honoring the life lost to early of Hayden Diesel Ross, #forever66.
Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
