Sooner Late Model Series eager to open season Saturday at Southern Oklahoma Speedway

 


By John Rittenoure, TULSA, Okla, (April 17, 2018) - Three times the Sooner Late Model Series has seen its attempt to open the 2018 season thwarted due to unfavorable weather.

 

The March 16 opener at East Texas Speedway and March 17 event at Super Bowl Speedway were victums of mother nature then the April 7 race at Enid Speedway was cancelled due to near freezing tempuratures.

 

Friday the Sooner Late Models will once again try to drop the first green flag on the season opener with a stop at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Saturday the series travels to Ada to visit Oklahoma Sports Park. 

Defending champion Jason Redman will lead a contigent of drivers into Southern Oklahoma Speedway on Friday. Redman won the 2017 title with one feature victory to his credit. Steven Hawkins was a close second followed by early season points leader Jay Sale, Wayne Bush and Nate Jantz to round out the top five. 

Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located at 2789 S. Hwy 77 in Ardmore. Take I-35 exit 29, go east on Hwy 70 approx. .7 miles then south on Hwy 77 approx. 2 miles. Racing begins agt 7:30 p.m.
