TULSA, Okla. (September 23, 2024) - The APEX Healthcare Partners Sooner Late Model Series is back in action this weekend with back-to-back events starting Friday night at Thunderbird Speedway.
Friday’s visit to Thunderbird will be the third and final stop at the historic half-mile this season. Hudson O’Neal made his first Sooner Series start a memorable one on June 28 winning the main event. Clayton Stuckey added his name to the Sooner Career victory list with his winning run on July 26.
Eli Ross will be working to hang on to the series points lead he acquired two weeks ago when racing gets underway on his hometown track at 7:30 p.m. Ross is only 15 points ahead of Zach Nickell who will be gunning to regain the points lead he held most of the season.
Gates open at 4 p.m. followed by racing at 8.
Saturday the Sooner Series heads east on I-40 for another visit to Tri-State Speedway. Jon Kirby entered his first Sooner event at Tri-State on July 27 and went home with the win.
Gates open at Tri-State at 4 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7:30.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas.
