John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (June 27, 2023) - Late Model racing returns to Enid Speedway on Saturday.
After a couple of attempts earlier in the season rained out, the Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series presented by Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation is hoping to finally get a race in at the 3/8’s mile Garfield County fairgrounds this weekend.
With three victories this season Brett Hansen is leading the points chase by a tight 155 points over rookie Eli Ross of Muskogee. Ross has yet to visit the winners circle, but has used constant finishes to stay in contention. Richard Shepler, Dakota Dellinger and Eric Brill have also used constant finishes to hold down spots in the top five.
Enid Speedway co-promoter and four-time Sooner Series champion Kip Hughes will be gunning for his fifth win of the season.
Saturday’s program will also include Factory Stocks, Sport Mod / B-Mods and Hot Shots. Tyler Scruggs leads the factory stock standings after two events on the strength of two top five finishes. Robert Elliott leads the Sport Mod / B-Mod points with one victory, and Racer Costello is on top of the Hot Shot standings.
Gates open at 3 p.m. Saturday, grandstands at 5 and racing gets underway at 7:30. A fireworks display will highlight the nights activities.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansa
