Ross leads CWT Sooner Late Model points race leading to Saturday’s race at Enid Speedway

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (March 29, 2021) - After three nights of racing 19-year old Hayden Ross leads the CWT Sooner Late Model Series points race coming into this weekend’s event at Enid Speedway.

Ross is still looking for his first victory, but has been the most consistent logging three top five finishes with a best finish of second in the season opener at Crawford County Speedway.

Dustin Allen, in his first full season with SLMS, kicked off the 2021 season winning the season opener at Crawford County and sits second in points. Zach Nickell and three-time defending champion Kip Hughes are tied for third just 85 points behind Allen.

It has been a tough start for Hughes who hopes to have better success on Saturday at his home track. Hughes only finished 8th at Crawford after tangling with the turn two wall in the feature. Last Saturday at Thunderbird Speedway Hughes was a DNS for the show when a needed part did not arrive in time for his late model.

The green flag drops at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on what is the first of six visits to the Garfield County fairgrounds 3/8’s mile oval. Pit gates will open at 3. Grandstands open at 4. A-Modifieds, Sport Mods, Oklahoma Factory Stocks and Hot Shots will be on hand to open the Enid Speedway season.
