By John Rittenoure, ADA, Okla. (April 23, 2022) - Hayden Ross is off to a fast start on the 2022 Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series season.
After winning two of the first five events of 2022, the young Muskogee native turned in another strong performance on Saturday at Oklahoma Sports Park winning for the third time.
Ross gunned his late model off the front row on the initial green with Eddie Tidwell and Steven Hawkins giving chase. But Hawkins suffered mechanical issues and the yellow flag waved. After a restart Kerney Weaver drove around Tidwell for second. But a couple of laps later Tidwell retakes the spot.
Weaver once again passes Tidwell and this time stays there to finish a straightaway back of Ross. Kip Hughes, who started 7th, challenged Kaleb Roach for fourth and eventually moved into third for the finish.
Late in the race Tidwell got into the turn four wall and flipped. Fortunately Tidwell was not hurt and was credited with an 11th place finish.
