Oklahoma Sports Park hosts Sooner Series Saturday

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (May 19, 2021) - The Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series returns to Oklahoma this Saturday with the first of three visits to Oklahoma Sports Park.

Hayden Ross of Muskogee comes into Saturday’s race with a 260 point lead over three-time defending champion Kip Hughes with nine shows completed on the 31-race season. Ross used a second place finish at Route 66 Raceway in Amarillo last Saturday to increase his lead over Hughes who was credited with a 19th place finish due to engine problems.

Hughes has logged 7 top 5 finishes showing a consistency that has kept him on top of the point standings despite not winning a feature so far this season.

Sooner Late Model Series

The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
