by John Rittenoure - MUSKOGEE, Okla. (March 27, 2021) - Jacob Magee charged from inside of the fifth row to take the lead then turned back Friday night winner Joe Godsey to win the final night of the CWT Sooner Late Model Series Okie Dirt Classic on Saturday at Thunderbird Speedway.
It only took Magee five laps to work his way into third behind second place Jay Riesen then two laps later Magee flew into second. Magee chased early leader Damian Patocka, who had been out front since lap two.
Magee was not catching Patocka until a yellow stopped the race on lap 11. On the restart Magee jumped inside of Patocka only to have the start called back. Magee gunned his late model inside of Patocka again on lap 13 and took away the lead.
Magee started to pull away from the field until another race stoppage on lap 19. Godsey, who started on the back in 20th, had worked his way into contention and the yellow flag was what he needed. Godsey drove into second on lap 22 but Magee held him off for the victory. Kaleb Roach moved up to finish third followed by Clay Julian and series points leader Haden Ross picked up fifth. Patocka faded to sixth at the checkered.
