Sooner Late Models, Modifieds in action Saturday at Enid Speedway


By John Rittenoure, TULSA, Okla. (September 5, 2017) - The Sooner Series late model and Modified divisions will be in action this Saturday at the Enid Speedway.


Jay Sale of Edmond leads the Sooner Late Model points chase with two victories but it is defending champion Mark Harrison that has been the one to beat this season at the Enid 3/8’s mile oval. Harrison won the first event at Enid on May 6 and continued his domination with a another victory in July 8.


Harrison is expected to face stiff competition from Sale, points runner-up Jason Redman, and top five drivers Steven Hawkins, Wayne Bush and Nate Jantz in what will be the 12th race of the season for the series.


The Modified division will be in action for the fourth time this season with Broady and Kirby Robe leading the points race. Broady Robe leads Kirby by just 25 points. Neither driver has visited victory circle in the first three shows. Mickey Lassiter won with the series at Enid on May 6 while Cole Traugett captured the last event at Enid on July 8.


Gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday with racing getting underway at 7.
