Day wins Sooner Late Model opener at Monarch Motor Speedway

By John Rittenoure - WICHITA FALLS, Texas (May 29, 2020) - Bo Day opened the long-awaited Sooner Late Model Series season with a victory in the 30-lap feature at Monarch Motor Speedway on Friday.

In a show that was co-sanctioned with the Southern Touring Late Model Series, Patrik Daniel jumped off the outside front row into the early lead. But his lead was short-lived as inside second row starter Day charged to the front.

Day raced unchallenged pulling away from Daniel as the race wore on. By the mid-way point pole-sitter, Austin Theiss took over second and chased Day to the checkered. Daniel fell back to sixth allowing Cody Leonard, Damian Patocka, and Robbie Starnes to finish third through fifth.
