Tidwell, Hughes looking to break points tie when Sooner Late Model Series visits Big O Speedway this weekend

John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (October 8, 2018) - The Sooner Late Model Series points lead is on the line in a big way this weekend when the Oklahoma based series travels to Big O Speedway in Ennis, Texas for the three-day Jimmy Allard Classic.

After leading the points chase for most of the season, Eddie Tidwell now finds himself in a tie for the points lead with Kip Hughes after Hughes posted his fourth victory of the season two weeks ago at Enid Speedway. Tidwell, who has yet to visit victory lane this season, and Hughes each have 3,520 points with only two races left to decide the 2018 champion.

The Sooner Series will join forces with the Southern Texas Late Model Series and DIRTcar on the program that begins on Thursday (Oct. 11) with practice. Heat race qualifying will get underway Friday at 8 p.m. with the top four top qualifiers earning spots in Saturday’s main event. The remaining feature lineup will be filled from last chance qualifying on Saturday.

Race time Saturday is 8 p.m.
