Sooner Late Models, Modifieds ready for Enid Speedway opener

John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (May 2, 2017) - After rain washed out the Sooner Late Model Series event at Oklahoma Sports Park on April 22, drivers are eager to get back into action and it will happen this weekend at the new Enid Speedway.

Kip Hughes and Mark Brill are re-opening the Garfield County Fairgrounds facility and will host the Sooner Series Late Models plus the season opener for the new Sooner Modified Series.

Jay Sale leads the Sooner Late Models into Enid with two victories to his credit this season. Sale won the opener on March 31 at Creek County Speedway then followed that up with a victory at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker.

A strong field of late models and modifieds is expected for the Enid Speedway opener. The modified class will be running for Sooner Series points as well. Saturday’s race is the first of eight scheduled for the modified class this season.

Enid Speedway will also hold a practice night on Friday, May 5.

Gates will open on Saturday at 5 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7.
