Sooner Late Models back in action this weekend

Southern Oklahoma Speedway Friday, Oklahoma Sports Park Saturday

By John Rittenoure, TULSA, Okla. (August 16, 2017) - It has been a month since the Sooner Late Model division has seen action. A cancellation at Wichita Speedway on August 4 resulted in additional time off.

That will change this weekend with back-to-back races on tap.

Friday the Sooner Late Models head south to Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore for their second appearance of the season. The last event at SOS was June 23 and Bo Day took home the win.

On Saturday the series moves on to Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada. It will be the third visit this year to the 4/10 mile oval. Jason Redman picked up his first career win at OSP on May 20. Sloppy Hogg won on July 15.

Jay Sale will lead the field to Southern Oklahoma Speedway with two victories on the season and a 235 point lead over Redman. Steven Hawkins sits in third on the strength of constant finishes and no victories so far this season. Wayne Bush is just four points back of Hawkins in fourth and is tied with Logan Ellis who has one win to his credit.

Gates open at Southern Oklahoma Speedway on Friday at 5 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7:30. Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located on the south side of Ardmore. Take I-35 exit 29, go east on Hwy 70 for 0.7 miles then south on Hwy 77 for two miles.

Oklahoma Sports Park gates open at 5 on Saturday and racing starts at 7:30. Oklahoma Sports Park is located outside of Ada at 8300 state highway 3W.
