Sooner season opens Saturday at Crawford County Speedway


by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (March 9, 2020) - The first Sooner Series Late Model show of the 2020 season fires off this Saturday at Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren, Arkansas. 


Saturday’s season opener is the first of 18 shows booked across four states for the 2020 season.


Kip Hughes, of Enid, captured his second straight Sooner Series title last year logging eight feature wins along the way. Hughes will lead a host of area drivers hoping to get a quick start of the 2020 points chase. 


Damian Patocka finished 2nd to Hughes in 2019 with one feature win. Steve Hawkins, Wayne Bush, John Somers, Phil Sager, Jason Redman, with one victory, Jim Hardison, Khyle Sweeney, and Jerry Derr rounded out the top 10. 


Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday at Crawford County and the grandstand opens at 6. Racing gets underway at 7:30. 


Crawford County Speedway is located on Hwy 59 in Van Buren, Arkansas. From I-40 take exit 5 the drive six miles north.
